Becknell Industrial delivered a build-to-suit industrial facility for Avancez, a key supplier in the $12 billion BlueOval City development—a transformative project bringing nearly 10,000 jobs to Tennessee. As a subsidiary of Android Auto, Avancez selected Becknell following a competitive RFP process led by Plante Moran. The decision was driven by Becknell’s vertical integration, track record in automotive manufacturing, and success with nearby projects.
The project commenced in late 2023 and was delivered ahead of schedule in January 2025, thanks to strategic subcontracting and strong leadership from construction superintendent Mikey D. The 32-foot clear-height facility supports sub-assembly operations for the Ford assembly plant and includes specialized automotive docks with 60,000-pound levelers, a compressed air system, and future-ready EV charger conduits.
Situated within Ford’s pad-ready site, Becknell leveraged cost efficiencies and site familiarity to meet the tenant’s expectations on budget. Additional complexity came from building within a seismic fault zone, which required advanced engineering solutions. Despite this, the project faced minimal schedule pressure, as it was the final supplier facility to be delivered in the park.
Coordination with Ford, the Tennessee Mega SiteAuthority, and the State Fire Marshal ensured smooth permitting and regulatory compliance. The Avancez facility reflects Becknell’s ability to manage challenging, large-scale developments while elevating the tenant’s profile within a megaproject ecosystem.
